Roelofs & Rubens has been creating handmade ceramic decorations since 2006. Founded by Dutch designer Piet van den Beuken and Monty Abram, the business has grown from a love of Delft blue pottery into a distinctive collection of seasonal decorations, gifts, bespoke commissions and venue bespokes.

Roelofs & Rubens began in 2006, inspired by a love of traditional Delft blue pottery and a desire to create ceramics with warmth, character and charm. Founded by Piet van den Beuken and Monty Abram, the business has grown steadily over the years into a much-loved collection of handmade decorations and bespoke designs.

Delft blue… with a twist

What started with blue-and-white inspiration has grown into a world of colour, pattern and playful detail. The original Delft influence still runs through the work today, but it now sits alongside a much broader collection of styles and subjects.

Made by hand

Ceramics was a new adventure when the business began, and like most makers the learning came through plenty of trial and error. Cracked pieces, kiln mishaps, warped shapes and seconds all became part of the process — and every stage taught something useful.

Each decoration starts as hand-rolled clay, cut and shaped into its final form through patient, careful work.

After glazing and firing, each piece is inspected, ribboned and carefully packaged before it leaves the studio.

From homegrown beginnings to our studio

What began as a very homegrown operation has grown into a dedicated studio setup. Today, the work is supported by a small team of fantastic helpers, blending traditional hands-on making with practical tools and techniques where helpful.

Did somebody say… bespoke?

Bespoke commissions have become a big part of the Roelofs & Rubens story. It all started when someone asked for a cathedral decoration, and from there the collection grew and grew. Today the business creates bespoke ceramic decorations for cathedrals, museums, castles, chapels, shops and other special places across the UK and beyond.
